Plunger type pumps are basically Metering Pumps, and they should be considered first as precision instruments that are used to feed exactly a predetermined volume of liquid / semi-solid into a system or process. Their secondary function is to pump, transfer or move a fluid from one point to another. They hold a special adaptation of the traditional positive displacement reciprocating class of pumps, designed mainly to transfer fluid at a precisely controlled rate.
They differ in the pumping rates of metering pump that can be varied by changing the useful stroke length. Metering/Dosing Pump is a high precision, reciprocating plunger and positive displacement pump that delivers a controlled volume of product against positive differential pressure between the pump suction and discharge.
The pump is designed to carry out this job with precision & reliability, and with a repetitive accuracy +- 3%, steady state accuracy +- 1% of the mean delivered flow. The pump has a drive unit with built-in gear which reduces the speed of drive motor to pump design speed. This rotating power is transformed to a linear motion by a crank mechanism.
The linear motion created by the crank is transferred to plunger through
cross head allowing it to reciprocate in a Liquid Head as well as deliver controlled volume of liquid with every discharge stroke. The pump is offered for a variety of flow rates as per customer’s requirement and application.
